SEC4BLUEconomy’24 Conference held in Athens on April 23, 2024, brought together key stakeholders to discuss the crucial role of maritime security in advancing the BLUE Economy. The conference aimed to raise awareness of facts and trends in maritime security. Sponsored by UNIWA (University of West Attica – Greece), the innovative solutions and capabilities of the UnderSec Project were showcased.
The objective of the SEC4BLUEconomy’24 Conference attendance was to spotlight the overall UnderSec Project, highlighting its capacities and capabilities within the maritime security sector. The focus was on presenting the envisioned UnderSec system and its potential to enhance underwater security operations, thereby contributing to maritime security and the growth of the BLUE Economy.
Addressing key objectives, the attendance included Port Authorities, Coast Guards/Port State Controls (PSC), Navies, Recognised Security Organisations (RSO), Ship Managers/Owners, and Shipping Insurers/Financiers. Approximately 70 people attended the session, engaging with UnderSec representatives Prof. Dimitrios Piromalis (UNIWA) and Capt. Ioannis Androulakis (MANIBUS OOD), who delivered a keynote talk at the event.
The presentation covered various topics including maritime security, legal and regulatory frameworks, security operators' capabilities gaps, updated risk assessments focusing on underwater security, new security functions within the UnderSec system, and the envisioned capabilities of the UnderSec system. An interactive Q&A session highlighted the audience's keen interest in the UnderSec system technologies, capacities, and capabilities.
