On July 12th, UnderSec made a significant contribution to European Ports Alliance Technical Workshop on Innovation, focusing on innovative technologies to enhance port and shipping sector resilience against drug trafficking. The event was organized by the European Commission and brought together key stakeholders, including public authorities and private sector representatives, to discuss and explore innovative solutions in the field of port security.
Sabine Trupp (Fraunhofer) and Ioannis Androulakis (MANIBUS OOD) represented the UnderSec Project, presenting the project’s vision and capabilities to an audience of approximately 70 participants. The core focus was on the UnderSec system’s ability to combat drug smuggling, specifically addressing the critical challenge of containers with drugs strapped or hidden on ship hulls.
The presentation detailed the UnderSec system's operational scenario, divided into five key steps, and highlighted the specific technologies and software services involved, aiming to connect with stakeholders seeking innovative solutions to bolster port security.
Moreover, it was an opportunity to announce the upcoming UnderSec Workshop on October 22nd, 2024. This event will delve deeper into the project’s foreseen solutions and offer a platform for further engagement with stakeholders.
Beyond the workshop, UnderSec representatives also attended also the CERIS event "Innovation for e-Commerce Security and Countering Illicit Transactions" on July 11th, 2024, in Brussels. This event provided valuable insights and opportunities for collaboration with other EU funded projects.
