From April 28 to 30, 2025, the UnderSec Project participated at the European Port Alliance 2nd Senior Officials’ Meeting. This important gathering brought together public and private stakeholders across the maritime supply chain to review progress made during the initiative’s first year and to set strategic priorities aimed at strengthening port resilience against organized crime, with a particular focus on combating drug trafficking.
The European Port Alliance fosters collaboration among port authorities, security operators, coast guards, and EU policymakers. At this event, UnderSec’s team, represented Simon Conti from CNT Technologies and Panagiotis Ioannou of European Dynamics, sought to raise awareness of the project by demonstrating its practical applications. They focused especially on showcasing the User Interface and Digital Twin functionalities to enhance underwater domain awareness through integrated surveillance technologies.
This participation aligned closely with UnderSec’s vision of providing improved maritime situational awareness and cross-border collaboration tools for end-users. The event targeted key stakeholders such as Coast Guards, Border Control Authorities, Port Authorities, Security & Surveillance Operators, and EU policy representatives, ensuring that those responsible for maritime security could directly experience the system’s capabilities.
During the session, Simon Conti and Panagiotis Ioannou presented a comprehensive overview of the UnderSec project, followed by a live demonstration of the User Interface simulating sensor-based detection events. Attendees were particularly engaged by the Digital Twin environment, which highlighted real-time monitoring and analysis capabilities vital for underwater domain awareness. The session also featured the LAUV vehicle provided by OMST, demonstrating the integrated solution’s operational readiness.
The presentation attracted around 100 participants, reflecting strong interest from senior officials and maritime security experts. The demonstration successfully illustrated the technical readiness and integration capabilities of the UnderSec system, fostering stakeholder engagement and raising awareness about the project’s contributions to combating organized crime in European ports.
The UnderSec Project remains committed to advancing maritime security through innovative technology and collaborative partnerships and looks forward to further opportunities to showcase its solutions across Europe.
